TL;DR: Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in 30 years. Fresh, flavourful haddock, perfectly crisp chips, not greasy even after a drive home. Friendly, professional staff and a spotless little shop. A truly hidden gem. The actual (rather long) review: Been here twice now, and was genuinely torn between keeping this place a well-guarded secret or sharing my appreciation. If you’re someone who appreciates fresh, flavourful seafood — especially if you’ve lived somewhere with easy access to it — their haddock will truly impress. It reminds you what proper fish should taste like. The chips are just as outstanding: sourced from local farms, you can really taste the quality of the potatoes. What really impressed me was how clean and dry the packaging stayed - the batter stayed crisp even after a drive home, and the chips were not soggy, not oily, just golden with a slight crunch - which says a lot about how well they fry everything. The shop itself is small but spotless. I’ve seen staff regularly mopping and keeping things tidy, even during busy Friday nights. The team are polite, fast, and clearly take pride in what they do. It’s rare to find a chippy that gets both taste and texture right, and even rarer to see that kind of consistency — something I don’t always find at pricier restaurants. Truly a standout in the region. Highly recommended.

Absolutely the best fish and chips we've had in the UK! Crispy, golden batter and perfectly cooked fish everything was fresh and full of flavor. What truly made the experience special was the warm hospitality of owner. He treats every customer like family, with a genuine smile and kind heart. I can honestly say it’s one of the best I’ve ever been to! From the moment I walked in, the friendly staff made me feel welcome and well taken care of. The fish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, yet tender and flaky on the inside—clearly cooked to order and incredibly fresh. You can tell they take pride in what they serve here. I have been coming to this chippy for years now and never go anywhere else. Every single time the food is absolutely spot on and delicious. On the rare occasion an item is missing or different, they apologise and replace it immediately with no extra charge. The owner is very fair with the prices despite the increase in fish and other items and the food is always worth the price. There’s a reason it’s always absolutely packed every night, and that’s because it’s the best chippy around. The staff are friendly and efficient too, keep up the good work guys 👍🏼

Really good chips. Not overcooked. Mate had fish that was fresh with crispy batter and I had a sausage that was good as well. All for under £15.00! Very clean as well. Staff prepared everything on demand. Worth the trek from Ratby!

Ordered a chicken kebab and chips on friday when it was very busy - staff were very friendly, and my order came very quickly considering the amount of orders coming through. Food was delicious and I would recommend.
